Joining Moreland libraries and borrowing items

Membership is free. To join the library online, click the ACCEPT button below after you have read the following information. On the next page, you will need to choose the appropriate category: adult (18 and over) or junior (under 18). Junior memberships should be completed by a guarantor. You will receive an email with a temporary borrower number, which you can use to access Borrowbox (ebooks and eaudiobooks) immediately.

Adult members and guarantors for junior members will receive an email with the full library card number within 3 working days. Library cards will be posted in the mail. Junior memberships will not include computer or internet access unless the guarantor contacts the library to request it.

    • You can use your Moreland City Libraries membership card at our five libraries and to access our e-library. You may borrow up to 50 physical items on your card, including up to 30 CDs and DVDs.

    • You can borrow most library materials for 21 days. Reference, Local Studies items and the most current newspapers and magazines are not available for loan.

    • Items will be automatically renewed twice unless they are reserved for someone else or if they are a popular item type such as a Top 20 or Top 5 book or an In Demand DVD.

    • You may reserve up to 10 items at once free of charge, except for Top 20, Top 5, Reference and Local Studies items. We will notify you when they are available to borrow.

    • You may request interlibrary loans for a charge and will be notified when they are available.

    • Moreland library materials can be returned to any Moreland library. After hours book return facilities are available at all of our libraries.

    • Replacement costs may be charged for items lost or damaged whilst in your care. By accepting these conditions as an adult member or guarantor for a junior member, you agree that you use any items you borrow at your own risk and acknowledge that Moreland City Libraries will not be liable for any damage caused to equipment by such items.

    • If you lose your card, report it immediately as you are responsible for any items borrowed before the loss is reported.

    • If you change your contact details, please notify us. Membership details are confidential and will not be disclosed to other parties.

    • Full rights and responsibilities of membership are detailed in the Library Use Policy. Full information on loans, fees and charges is detailed in the Library Loans Policy. By accepting these conditions, you are also agreeing to abide by the Computer, Internet, Wireless, Printing and Photocopy Conditions for Public Use.
