Joining Moreland libraries and borrowing items

Membership is free. You may join at any of the five libraries in Moreland by presenting proof of your name and current address. There is no minimum age for joining, but those under the age of 18 require a signature from their parent or guardian.

To join the library online, click on the ACCEPT button below after you have read the following information. You must be 18 or over to join online. You will need to visit one of our libraries to complete your membership, receive a card and borrow items.

    • You can use your Moreland City Libraries membership card at all five service points. You may borrow up to 50 items on your card, including up to 30 CDs and DVDs.

    • You can borrow most library materials for 21 days with the following exceptions - magazines are loaned for 7 days and e-audio downloads are loaned for 14 days. Only 2 games, 3 e-audio download books, 6 e-books per e-book platform, 2 language kits and 2 ESL kits may be borrowed per member.

    • Reference, local studies items and the most current newspapers and magazines are not available for loan.

    • You may renew items twice, either by telephone, online via the library catalogue, or in person at any library service point, except if an item has already been reserved by another user or if there are overdue charges on your card. This service is not available during downtime of the library computer system. If you renew items by telephone, you will be asked to provide your membership number and verify your identity by stating your current address.

    • You may reserve items in the Moreland collection free of charge, even if they are located at a different Moreland library. We will notify you when they are available to borrow. You may reserve up to 10 items at once, with the exception of e-audiobooks, for which only one reserve per member is allowed.

    • You may request interlibrary loans for a charge and will be notified when they are available.

    • Moreland library materials can be returned to any Moreland library. After hours book return facilities are available at all service points.

    • Overdue fines are charged for items returned late. If you have overdue items and outstanding charges, you will need to make a minimum payment before you can borrow again. An overdue notice is mailed 10 days after the due date. See Library Fees and Charges for details.

    • Replacement costs may be charged for items lost or damaged whilst in your care. By accepting these conditions, you agree that you use any items you borrow at your own risk and acknowledge that Moreland City Libraries will not be liable for any damage caused to equipment by such items.

    • If you lose your card, you must report it immediately as you are responsible for any items borrowed before the loss is reported.

    • If you change your contact details, please notify us immediately. Membership details are confidential and will not be disclosed to other parties.

    • Full rights and responsibilities of membership are detailed in the Library Use Policy. Full information on loans, fees and charges is detailed in the Library Loans Policy. By accepting these conditions, you are also agreeing to abide by the Computer, Internet, Wireless, Printing and Photocopy Conditions for Public Use.
