Joining Moreland libraries and borrowing items

Membership is free. You may join at any of the five libraries in Moreland by presenting proof of your name and current address. There is no minimum age for joining, but those under the age of 18 require a signature from their parent or guardian and are not able to join online.

To join the library online, click the ACCEPT button below after you have read the following information. You must be aged 18 or over and you will need to visit one of our libraries to complete your membership and receive a Moreland City Libraries card. Your Online registration expires after 60 days.

    • You can use your Moreland City Libraries membership card at our five libraries and to access our e-library. You may borrow up to 50 physical items on your card, including up to 30 CDs and DVDs.

    • You can borrow most library materials for 21 days with the following exceptions: magazines are loaned for 7 days; Top 10s and Top 5s are loaned for 2 weeks with no renewals. Games, Launchpads, GoChip Beams, language kits and ESL kits are limited to 2 loans per member.

    • Reference, Local Studies items and the most current newspapers and magazines are not available for loan.

    • You may renew items twice, either by telephone, online via the library catalogue, or in person at any library. You may not renew an item if it has already been reserved by another user or if there are overdue charges on your card.

    • You may reserve items in the Moreland collection free of charge, except for Reference and Local Studies items. We will notify you when they are available to borrow. You may reserve up to 10 items at once.

    • You may request interlibrary loans for a charge and will be notified when they are available.

    • Moreland library materials can be returned to any Moreland library. After hours book return facilities are available at all of our libraries.

    • Overdue fines are charged for items returned late. If you have overdue items and outstanding charges, you will need to make a minimum payment before you can borrow again. An overdue notice is mailed 10 days after the due date. See Library Fees and Charges for details.

    • Replacement costs may be charged for items lost or damaged whilst in your care. By accepting these conditions, you agree that you use any items you borrow at your own risk and acknowledge that Moreland City Libraries will not be liable for any damage caused to equipment by such items.

    • If you lose your card, you must report it immediately as you are responsible for any items borrowed before the loss is reported.

    • If you change your contact details, please notify us immediately. Membership details are confidential and will not be disclosed to other parties.

    • Full rights and responsibilities of membership are detailed in the Library Use Policy. Full information on loans, fees and charges is detailed in the Library Loans Policy. By accepting these conditions, you are also agreeing to abide by the Computer, Internet, Wireless, Printing and Photocopy Conditions for Public Use.
